Who

STUART’S is a sixth-generation family bakers and butchers with shops, cafés and outlets servicing Fife and the surrounding areas. Stuart’s started life as a bakers, but began sourcing meat in the 1960s to guarantee the quality of their specialty pies and consequently became Stuart’s Bakers & Butchers.

The Situation

Their logo styling had become dated and, thanks to decades of trading, could be seen in many different guises across the business. The brief was to give Stuart’s new branding, which reflected their long community standing as well as their Scottish heritage, but was flexible enough to transcend both the Bakers and the Butchers.

The Solution

We kept the original Stuart’s green, but added a contrast colour – burgundy. This enabled us to colour code the marketing to reflect the two sides of the business. The use of the bakers and butchers hat also helped us establish what Stuart’s did as soon as people saw the logo. We also found a Stuart’s tartan in green and burgundy, which we used to tie in the Scottish heritage of the business. The original positioning statement was “Fine Food For Fifers”. However, as we were also looking to develop the business across the UK via the web, this was amended slightly to become “Fine Food From Fife since 1857”.

The Result

We continue to work with the Stuart’s team on a number of projects to expand their online presence and deliver online sales consistently, not just when seasonal offers are available. We have also helped Stuart’s develop their store offering by delivering POS to promote the products that are now also available through a number of convenience stores in Scotland.

MediaVantage driving the radio bookings for Drive Vauxhall

“As a motors business, we have to be able to quickly and easily respond to changes in the offers we promote. Radio offers us this flexibility and enables us to not only change the message completely, but also tweak it, if necessary, to reflect the local market. Liz helped us select the right stations and negotiated the packages we wanted. On top of that, Liz and her team keep extremely close tabs on the campaigns and the effects of the changes in terms of implementation and managing that process by changing the spends, copy rotations, etc. Their attention to detail is second to none and I knew I would be able to rely on them to deliver what I wanted from the radio and to keep on delivering it!”

Newtons Solicitors & MediaVantage – working together every step of the way

“Liz really knows her stuff with the marketing. I felt that I was doing a pretty good job and did question whether I needed to appoint an external marketing agency. Liz was very persistent in wanting to have a meeting with me and in a moment of weakness I agreed. We immediately hit it off. I liked the client profiling work that Liz arranged (anonymously and based on postcodes), which told us our client demographic across our region. From this we could make more informed decisions about our marketing spend rather than my previous gut feel and back of fag packet approach. I really enjoy working with Liz and her team – they will be a key part of my marketing team going forward.”

Why MediaVantage are Just the Answer for JT Atkinson…

“As a family business we really wanted to communicate our heritage, our history and our family values, and be proud of these elements without the need for too much detail. The strategy Liz presented was spot-on and co-ordinated our efforts internally, with our customer promises, as well as externally with our customers. We are looking forward to working with Liz and the team to develop these ideas even further and to achieving our objectives.”
